Muganda

We were here the last Saturday of the month which is Muganda, a day of social action. Each village or community decides what project they will work on such as cleaning litter, fixing a neighbor's house, sweeping the street or working at a school. Everything is closed from 6:00am - 12:00 noon. Even the streets are empty of cars and busses. Everything stops.

The Urukundo Children's Home and Learning Center also participated by cleaning around their farm, schools, children's rooms and gardens.

Linda walked with the children picking up litter, branches and anything laying around.

The Carols, as we are affectionately called, worked on the kitchen gardens. The feed bags around each level were rotting causing the dirt to erode and break through the sides. We worked on the worse parts, the base levels, by replacing stakes and the plastic bags. We also cleared paths between the kitchen gardens.

Felicite was thrilled to see the improvements but we knew there was so much more to be done. Perhaps the June team will continue to work on this!!
