Cow 2

Marilyn Ely~~The journey home was even more exciting than the journey out because we were watching the cow in the truck in front of us. The rough roads did not seem to bother her nor the people along the side of the road. She did not like it when the truck almost got stuck in the mud. The noises and the smells of the city really began to bother her and she moving around more in the truck. Fortunately her human companion was able to calm her enough to make it the rest of the way to her new home.

The cow arrived at Urukundo to great fanfare. The school children were all out at recess so they were able to watch us take her off the truck. The unloading process was; back up to a bank, lower the tail gate, dismantle the temporary gate in the middle of the truck bed and let her out.

She was so happy the truck had stopped and there were no horns blowing that she stepped right off and trotted off with the farmers to see what other adventure was in store. Mama Arlene was thrilled to have the new cow. It will mean more milk for the children, more to sell to help pay expenses, and more manure for the making bio gas to cook the meals for the children. All in all a wonderful experience for everyone.
