40 Children at the Cykabiri Preschool, Mama Arlene's vision

Mama Arlene welcomes us to the school and shows us the classrooms, many books and art. The gorilla art on the wall is called "dung art". Yes it is made of cow dung then painted.

Each day the school starts with a prayer. The children sing grace before snack time and a child ends the day in prayer. Today, Emmanuel, one of the teachers, asked each child to introduce themselves to Jan and me. This little boy was a bit shy. But they all said their name, their age and if they were a boy or girl. They were so adorable with some big smile.

The morning session for 3 and 4 year olds is from 8-11am and the afternoon session is for 5 year olds from 1:30 - 4:30pm. The curriculum is based on Art as a Way of Learning and Rwandan Culture.
