Buying Goats at Market

"Sorry about the order of the photos but I couldn't get them to upload in the corrrect sequence."

People gathered by the hundreds with their animals hoping to make a sale. We met with a broker to let him know what we were looking for. He then wandered the market and found 12 goats for us to consider.

Negotiations began between between the broker, Sam our Farm Manager and Vincent our administrator of the Home and translator. More people kept coming up with their goats to sell pressing in on all of us. But I think it was curiosity for the Muhangas, Jan and I.

The cell phone came out to calculate the most expensive purchase, the black goat with horns. When it was all complete we had 12 goats, 1 male and 11 females.

Last they were loaded in the back of our SUV. They were packed so tight we didn't have to worry about any of them falling over.

It was a great experience. One I won't forget.
