St. Paul's UMC Sunday School classes, my family and friends are buying goats!!

The excitement over GOATS began to spread through my family, friends and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. People wanted to help buy a goat.  St. Paul’s Sunday School classes bought 2 goats after they heard a message about the importance of goats.  How families and children raise goats then sell the milk or babies. Often this is how they raise money to buy food but also the money is used to send their children to school.  Pastor Ed gave the children’s message one Sunday with a goat puppet when they had the Blessing of the Animals.

Ten goats in total are being purchased for the Urukundo Home for milk, food and to pass on the gift of a baby goat to a family in need in the community.  I will be going this Saturday October 22, two days after I arrive, with the caretaker and a translator to pick up the goats.

A great book to share with your children or grandchildren is Beatrice’s Goat, by Page McBrier.  A young girl's dream of attending school in her small Ugandan village is fulfilled after her family is given an income-producing goat. Based on a true story about the work of the Heifer Project.
