Making Sweaters

A new addition to our sewing center are two machines that make sweaters for school uniforms. These are not electric machines, but use foot peddles like our sewing machines. Theresa, the sewing center director, had someone come for two months to teach her how to use it. She then hired Solange and taught her how to use it. It's been a success as Solange can make 5 small sweaters a day.

Solange is 28 years old and has 3 children, 5 years, 3 years and 6 months. She finished 6th grade in 2000 then worked in agriculture. She said, "This is a great opportunity so I can earn money to take care of my children."
